If the valve is damaged, fluid will continue to flow into or leak from the tank, resulting in fluid loss and flooding. It is a good idea to check the valves regularly to ensure that they are functioning correctly or, if necessary, to install sensors and audible and visual alarms on the tanks to pick up signals in the event of a problem.
