What is a bidet/bidet toilet seat?
A bidet is a plumbing fixture commonly used to keep the genital area clean. While a traditional bidet resembles a toilet, modern fixtures can be stand-alone units or add-ons, such as a bidet toilet seat that can be installed on an existing toilet. There's even a travel bidet that looks like a water bottle and sprays water when you squeeze it.
How does a bidet work?
Most people are familiar with toilets, which flush waste away with water. Bidets use a jet of water to clean your private areas and improve your personal hygiene. They are fairly simple devices. They usually consist of a small bowl connected to the water supply. Most also have mechanisms to regulate water pressure and temperature.
Toilet paper doesn't always work and can be irritating for people with sensitive skin. The water in a bidet is usually softer than in a toilet, allowing for a more thorough cleaning. Additionally, many people find that using a bidet is more comfortable than using toilet paper.
A bidet works by spraying water on your buttocks to clean it after you use the toilet. You can use the bidet to clean yourself before or after using the toilet without having to wipe. Some even have warm water functions, warm air dryers and heated seats! Cheaper varieties often don't offer this drying feature, so if you don't want it to drip dry after using your bidet, you can pat yourself down with a cloth towel.
