The essentials of hot melt connection of PPR pipe

1. The pipes should be clean

Before welding the PPR pipe, first ensure that the pipe is clean and dry. There should be no oil stains, dust, impurities and other dirt on the surface of the PPR pipe. Otherwise, the dirt and the welded pipe may be melted together during hot melting, which may leave a gap or flow to the inner wall of the pipe, polluting the water quality. When welding the PPR pipe, keep the pipe body dry. If there are water droplets on the outer wall of the PPR tube, bubbles may be left during welding, resulting in a hidden danger of virtual welding.

2. The incision should be flat

The incision of the PPR tube should be flat, clean and free of burrs. If the pipe and pipe fittings are not in a straight line when the pipe incision is skewed and welded, the welded PPR pipe will not be straight. Moreover, when the overlapping lengths of the PPR pipes and fittings in the joint are inconsistent, when the water flows through, it will have a certain impact on the hot-melt joint and shorten the life of the joint.

3. The temperature of the hot melt machine should be enough

When the PPR pipe is hot-melted, the temperature must be reached. Qualified PPR pipes, PPR raw materials are pure and single, and the hot-melt temperature is usually around 260 °C. Of course, in summer, PPR pipe hot-melting is easier; in cold winter, the hot-melting temperature can be appropriately increased according to the actual situation. For example, in the southern region, the hot-melting temperature of PPR pipe can be increased by 5 °C, and in the northern region, it can be increased by 10 °C-15 °C , to ensure the best welding effect.

4. The hot melt time should be appropriate

The hot-melt time of PPR pipe should be controlled within a reasonable range. If the hot-melting time is too short, the pipes and fittings are not heated enough, and the melting is not complete. It seems that the welding is good, but it is likely to be a virtual welding, or even the welding is not firm, and it is easy to leak when the water is passed. The hot-melting time of PPR pipe is too long, and the welding is very firm with a little force, but there is a disadvantage that the joint is easy to be too thick, which reduces the diameter of the pipe and reduces the water flow.

5. Do not rotate when docking

When welding PPR pipe, it is best not to rotate. It may destroy the molecular composition of the PPR material, reduce the functionality of the PPR pipe, and even shorten the service life of the pipe.
