1.Cross-Linking Process

The cross-linking of polyethylene molecules is the key factor that sets PEX pipe apart from other plumbing materials. Cross-linking enhances the pipe's performance and gives it superior properties. There are three common methods of cross-linking: the PEX-a, PEX-b, and PEX-c processes.

PEX-a: This method involves the highest degree of cross-linking, resulting in a pipe with excellent flexibility and shape memory. PEX-a pipes can be expanded and then contracted back to their original shape, making them ideal for curved or intricate installations.

PEX-b: This process provides moderate cross-linking and produces a pipe that is slightly stiffer than PEX-a. PEX-b pipes are more affordable and suitable for general plumbing applications.
